In this 60 minute Vinyasa Flow Yoga sequence, I guide you through a yoga class that is themed around yoga philosophy teachings and specifically explores the idea of the body being a temple. As BKS Iyengar said: "The body is your temple. Keep it pure and clean for the soul to reside in."
When I look at the classes I create as well as the classes in my wider yoga sphere, there is often a lot of emphasis on manipulating, forcing and/or changing the body. Perhaps a yoga class will be themed around a specific part of the body or there is a focus on increasing strength and/or flexibility, whereas, when we look at the ancient philosophical teachings of yoga, there is a subtle shift in emphasis. Yoga philosophy regards the body as a temple and as a gift that allows us to reside in this world. It honours the body as sacred and teaches that we should treat it with respect. I love this subtle shift in perspective and I believe that if we can view our body as a temple, it can allow us to be more caring, compassionate and gentle to ourselves. I hope you enjoy this class and I hope you find resonance in exploring this theme!
